Suggestion from February 20 2023
Wine: 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé "En Caramentrant"
Producer: Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
Comment: In contrast to the relatively expressive noses of the preceding wines, this is all but mute and only aggressive swirling eventually coaxes aromas of white-fleshed fruit and lemon-lime that are trimmed in just enough wood to merit mentioning. I very much like the mouth feel of the concentrated, serious and stony middle weight plus flavors that flash real drive on the focused, very dry and citrusy finale. This is lovely and is a wine that should both drink well early but have no difficulty aging gracefully too.

Each week we feature a different Burgundy rated as a top value by Burghound. While there will be a mix of vintages, most wines featured will be those that can normally be found at a variety of fine wine retailers. Each wine will be described and rated with a suggested window of peak drinkability indicated after the numerical score.
