Burghound.com Tweet of the Week

Suggestion from February 06 2023

Wine: 2008 Clos de Vougeot

Producer: Domaine Leroy

Comment: There is a hint of geranium to the very fresh and airy red currant, earth and distinct floral nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to merit mentioning. There is excellent concentration to the round, delicious and supple yet quite powerful broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in a refreshing and inviting if dusty and mildly austere finale. This is a dense 2008 in the context of what is typical for the vintage and a wine that is certainly not at its peak yet it's not so far away that it couldn't be enjoyed if given a thorough aeration first.
