Burghound.com Tweet of the Week

Suggestion from January 30 2023

Wine: 2003 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

Producer: Domaine Robert Groffier

Comment: An overtly ripe yet still agreeably fresh nose combines notes of spice and earth with those of both red and dark cherry fruit, plum and soft violet nuances. The rich and notably full-bodied flavors possess excellent volume and power before culminating in a driving and solidly well-balanced and complex finale. This is one of those wines that possesses evident structure yet even so it is not unduly austere and could even be enjoyed now; that said, this is clearly still on the way up and is the better part of a decade away from its peak. Note that another bottle displayed a hint of brett though it was sufficiently subtle not to ruin the wine.

While there will be a mix of vintages, most wines featured will be those that can normally be found at a variety of fine wine retailers.
