Burghound.com® - The Burgundy of the Week

Domaine William Fèvre Wine: 1999 Chambolle-Musigny "Les Feusselottes" 1er

Producer: Domaine Dr. Georges Mugneret (Vosne-Romanée)

Comment: Superbly elegant in every respect with its stylish Pinot fruit, intense, sappy crushed red-fruit flavors, medium weight yet very fine tannins and sneaky persistence. This is the essence of Pinot finesse and wonderfully seductive. While not especially dense or weighty, it is textbook Chambolle-Musigny in its remarkable purity of expression, laser-like precision and lacy transparency and offers good finishing richness. In short, this is drop-dead gorgeous. 92/2006-12

U.S. Importer: There are several, including North Berkeley Imports (Berkeley, CA), Ideal Wines and Spirits (Medford, MA) and Michael Skurnik Wines (Syosset, NY)

Suggested Price: $80: (you can expect to pay around $55 though prices vary widely)

Important Note: Burghound.com has no financial relationship of any kind with Domaine Mugneret or with any importer noted above.

Each week we feature a different Burgundy. While there will be a mix of vintages, most wines featured will be those that can normally be found at a variety of fine wine retailers. Each wine will be described and rated with a suggested window of peak drinkability indicated after the numerical score. Prices shown are estimated retail in the U.S., but prices do of course vary widely depending on the retailer.
