Les Remilly Wine: 1999 Chassagne-Montrachet "Les Remilly" 1er Cru

Producer: Domaine Philippe Brenot (Santenay)

Comment: (This vineyard is normally referred to as En Remilly). Gorgeous, full and beautifully nuanced fruit offering good minerality and white flower notes followed by elegant, beautifully defined flavors with much better concentration and size than most '99s. Despite the size and density, this remains remarkably well balanced and delivers admirable flavor authority on the long finish. This is dense enough to be slightly viscous yet because of the solid acidity, there is no sense of heaviness or excess fat. Delicious, forward and complex and while this is will drink well on the early side, it should also benefit from 3 to 5 years of cellar time. 92/2004-9

U.S. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, Pa. (A Peter Weygandt Selection)

Suggested Price: $59.95 (you can expect to pay around $55)

Important Note: Burghound.com has no financial relationship of any kind with Domaine Brenot or with Weygandt-Metzler.

Each week we feature a different Burgundy. While there will be a mix of vintages, most wines featured will be those that can normally be found at a variety of fine wine retailers. Each wine will be described and rated with a suggested window of peak drinkability indicated after the numerical score. Prices shown are estimated retail in the U.S., but prices do of course vary widely depending on the retailer.
