Burghound.com® - The Burgundy of the Week
Producer: Domaine Henri et Gilles Remoriquet (Nuits St. Georges) Comment: As I commented a few weeks ago when another version of Malconsorts was our Burgundy of the Week, the vineyard is one of the most underrated among the premiers crus of Vosne-Romanée. I went on to observe that Malconsorts is actually one of the very best in a village where almost every vineyard is especially gifted. This particular '99 Malconsorts is the first vintage from Domaine Remoriquet and the wine offers knockout aromas of Asian spices, especially tea, anise and clove that give way to lush, rich, heady flavors underpinned by ripe, rather dusty tannins. The length just won't quit and the wine strikes me as a blend of luxurious domestic pinot body with the outstanding spice of a top Vosne premier cru, Burgundy style acidity and balance. For fans of red Burgundy that enjoy lots of up-front fruit yet with the clear ability to age gracefully, this is a Malconsorts that is certain to please and at a very attractive price. 92/2007-15 U.S. Importer: Wine House, Limited - San Francisco Suggested Price: $50 (you can expect to pay around $35 to $45) Important Note: Burghound.com has no financial relationship of any kind with Domaine Remoriquet or with Wine House, Limited.
